Brighton injury update: Hürzeler urges caution over Diego Gómez while trio return

Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler has given an injury update ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday

Brighton & Hove Albion host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the American Express Stadium on Saturday as they continue their quest for European football. The visitors to the Sussex coast, on the other hand, know they are already relegated, but this weekend could see them rise out of bottom place.

Brighton lost last time out away to Newcastle, but won four of their previous five, including victories over Chelsea and Liverpool. With three games left, they currently sit in 8^th, which could be enough to secure European football, but they are only two points off sixth which could potentially be a ticket to the Champions League.

As they prepare to host a Wolves team playing for pride, Brighton have a few injury concerns on their minds. Manager Fabian Hürzeler addressed some of these in his press conference on Friday.

Dunk, March and Milner could return for Brighton

There is some potentially good news for Seagulls fans as Solly March and James Milner, who have been absent with muscle injuries, could be in line for an early return and Hürzeler described them as “definitely an option.”

Another player who could make a comeback is Lewis Dunk, with Hürzeler explaining his absence against Newcastle as “because he wasn’t fully training” before going on to state that there’s “always an opportunity for my captain to come back in and play.”

Touch and go on Gómez

Meanwhile, the German coach urged caution on Diego Gómez, who had been previously been expected to be ready for this weekend’s game.

“I’m hoping [to have Gómez back], but it’s important we understand we can’t risk his health and we have a responsibility for the players,” said Hürzeler.

Elsewhere, Mats Wieffer is a doubt with a “small ankle issue”, while Adam Webster and Stefanos Tzimas remain out longer term.
