Barcelona youngster Dro is set to complete a move to PSG, with Luis Enrique playing a key role  

Dro Fernández’s move to Paris Saint-Germain is now largely a matter of paperwork, with FC Barcelona having accepted that the young prospect will leave and attention turning to the final structure of the deal.

The sporting decision is settled, but discussions continue between the clubs as Barça look to avoid a simple activation of the €6 million release clause.

Barcelona’s stance is clear. While they are resigned to losing Dro, the club believes the circumstances justify a higher level of compensation, closer to €10 million.

From their perspective, reaching a negotiated agreement with PSG would better reflect the player’s potential and the years invested in his development, while also preventing further friction between two clubs whose recent dealings have often been tense.

On the player’s side, the destination has long been decided. Dro has opted for PSG, drawn above all by the influence of head coach Luis Enrique.

According to Sport, during one of his recent trips to Barcelona, the Asturian coach held a direct meeting with the 18-year-old and laid out a sporting vision that immediately resonated.

Sources close to the situation say that conversation was pivotal, giving Dro the feeling that a genuine pathway at elite level was being offered.

A clearer role and faster opportunities in Paris

Luis Enrique’s reputation for intensity and clarity played a major role in the decision. The project presented to Dro was built around immediate involvement and gradual progression, rather than waiting in the background for opportunities to emerge.

That message carried weight for a player who, despite his age, felt ready to take responsibility at a higher level.

At Barcelona, Dro was part of the senior setup under Hansi Flick, but his first team appearances were limited. The pathway forward appeared uncertain and dependent on multiple variables.

PSG, by contrast, offered a defined role, particularly in Ligue 1, where regular minutes are expected to help him adapt quickly to top level football.

Dro made his Barcelona debut in his team’s 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad back in September, with his first Champions League appearance taking place in October’s 6-1 win against Olympiacos.

It should be noted that, Gavi’s agent, former Barcelona and Espanyol player Iván de la Peña – who played alongside Luis Enrique with the Blaugrana – is orchestrating the move as Dro’s representative.
